Lonely Planet, the Australia-based travel magazine, has named Hanoi and Da Nang among the top seven solo travel destinations in Southeast Asia. The magazine highlighted their low crime rates and easy transportation as key factors.

Da Nang was praised for being "perfect for an idyllic coastal escape and a gateway to diverse experiences." The city is known for its stunning coastline, with hotels featuring beach views, large windows, balconies, and infinity pools.

"Solo travelers on a budget will find rooms here averaging VND1 million (US$39.44)," the magazine noted.

From Da Nang, travelers can easily reach the ancient town of Hoi An, just a 30-minute drive away, and the historic city of Hue, known for its royal tombs and palaces.

In Hanoi, the magazine recommends exploring the Old Quarter, a vibrant area with narrow streets filled with shops and street food stalls.

"Relax in a local café with a strong coffee and condensed milk, best enjoyed on a small stool while people-watching. Or visit Hoan Kiem Lake, especially lively on weekends," Lonely Planet suggested.

Other destinations on the list include Singapore, Penang in Malaysia, Siem Reap in Cambodia, Bangkok in Thailand, and Bali in Indonesia.

The selection criteria focused on affordable street food, low crime rates, reliable wi-fi, ease of communication, and accessible transportation.
